Polynesian Outreach Program
Celebrating the lives of two of its most influential past community members, the Oceanside High School Polynesian Club hosted its annual Wally Molifua Day Friday, including a special tribute to Junior Seau. Both Molifua and Seau proudly relied on their Samoan American heritage, and used it to benefit students and the Oceanside Community.
Molifua, known to many as simply “Uncle Wally,” was a widely popular former OHS teacher and coach. He coached Seau during his tenure at the school. His influence led to the formation of the school’s Polynesian Club in the mid-to-late 1970s. These activities included a moment of silence for Seau, Polynesian dance performances, and the awarding of scholarships to four OHS seniors who will graduate in June.
Junior's public memorial celebration was held on 5-11-12 at the Qualcomm Stadium. Donations in Junior’s honor can be mailed to the Junior Seau Foundation at: Junior Seau Foundation, 5275 Market Street, Suite B, San Diego, CA 92114. Donations also can be made online at: www.juniorseau.org.
