New Performing Arts Center

The local design firm of Harley Ellis Devereaux has been selected as the architect for the future Oceanside High School Performing Arts Center. The OUSD Board of Education unanimously selected the firm during its regularly scheduled meeting on February, 14.

According to its proposal for the $17 million project, the designers stated: “Our goal and ambition is to provide Oceanside with a warm, vibrant and inviting landmark which is a true gateway to Oceanside High School and to the city surrounding it.”

A design jury, consisting of a number of professionals with “heavy theatre building experience,” recommended the winning firm to the board from a panel of five finalists. Board members voted 5-0 to accept the recommendation. The project should take two to three years to design and build.
