AP Statistics

Course Description

 

The course is equivalent to a college level statistics class. The major topics are exploring data, planning a study, anticipating patterns, and statistical inference. Students who successfully complete this course are prepared to take the AP Statistics exam and have the ability to earn college credit and advanced standing by passing the exam.

Course Goals

 

Students should be able to:

  • continue to develop critical thinking skills
  • learn additional techniques for understanding and analyzing problems
  • learn and apply advanced problem solving strategies
  • communicate processes used and insights gained while solving problems
  • develop logical arguments and counter examples to defend a thought or position taken
  • increase proficiency in the use of calculators to visualize and solve problems
  • form or increase self discipline needed to study for rigorous college level classes
  • prepare students to succeed on the Advanced Placement Statistics Exam
